After your swim, head 30km north of Isla Mujeres to the picturesque Isla Contoy. The island is roughly 8.5km in length and has been a Mexican National Park since 1988. Supervised eco-tourism and regulated fishing are essential for the well being of the island, as well as for the protection of the four types of turtle that inhabit the stunning island. Loggerhead, Green, Hawksbill and Leatherback turtles nest on the islands idyllic beaches, whilst there are over 150 tropical marine birds that swoop over Contoy.
