It’s Not All about Restaurants and Beach Clubs on the Riviera – Monaco Has One of the Most Incredible Aquariums in the World

Designed as a palace dedicated entirely to art and science, the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco, founded by Prince Albert I has been an iconic part of the legendary Rock of Monaco for over a century.  From the exquisite facades to the decoration in the salons, this magnificent building takes you into the fascinating world of the ocean.  With over 6,000 square meters and some 6,000 specimens on display to feast your eyes upon, the museum offers a welcome cultural contrast from the bustling Riviera, with an emphasis on protecting the oceans.

The Ionian Islands Are More Than But A Dream!

The Ionian islands continue to be one of the most popular charter destinations each summer, and if you haven’t visited yet, they are well worth a trip.  The Ionian is a group of islands which run from the bottom of the Adriatic to the Peloponnese and are among the greenest in Greece, studded with olive groves.  Made up of twelve small and large islands, Zakynthos, Ithaca, Corfu (Kerkyra), Kefalonia, Lefkada, and Paxi are the large Ionian Islands. The smaller islands include Antipaxi, Erikousa, Mathraki, Othoni, Meganisi and the deserted islets of Strofades south of Zakynthos. With its mild winds, crystal clear waters and predictable weather patterns, the Ionian offers excellent and safe sailing conditions.

Ile de Porquerolles – A Hidden Paradise

One of my favourite places on the French Riviera is the lesser known Ile de Porquerolles where the crystal clear waters, golden sand and dream-like bays are more akin to somewhere found in the tropics.  This sensational paradise is the antidote to the hustle and bustle of St Tropez – a tranquil haven in which to relax and unwind whilst enjoying the stunning scenery. Together with the island of Port-Cros and île du Levant, Porquerolles belongs to the îles d’Hyères Archipelago, also knows as the îles d’or (Golden Islands). The biggest of the three islands of the archipelago, Porquerolles is shaped like a croissant and is seven kilometers long by three kilometers wide.
