Upbeat mood at the Annapolis Boat Show

The United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis has come to an end and the energy during the show was positive and upbeat.
We heard of one broker who sold 6 new boats! Charter demand was brisk for the BVI and other Caribbean destinations this winter. We also have added numerous fantastic new charter sailing yachts – both bareboat and crewed – to our every growing charter selection, in order to provide the best selection anywhere of sailing charter yachts in the USA, Caribbean and Bahamas.

Perhaps most importantly, in all of our conversations we never heard the “R Word” (recession) or mention of the “economic downturn”!

Kingship Sets New Yacht Design Standard for 144’ GREEN VOYAGER

The first steel block of this potentially award-winning yacht commenced assembly last month at Kingship Shipyard. Green Voyager is designed for minimal environmental impact that exceeds MEPC 159(55) requirements and RINA Green Plus Platinum notation.

To this end, the explorer-style yacht is equipped with diesels, shaft generator/E-motors, diesel-electric and advanced power management and battery power systems for propulsion and hotel loads estimated to increase efficiency by16% in propulsion, 20% for hotel loads, and produce unprecedented low levels of emissions.

Tork Buckley, career Captain and current editor of the Yacht Report, will represent Kingship in a presentation at the Singapore Superyacht Conference, October 13-14, 2010, explaining the Green Voyager project and how shipyards can lead rather than follow superyacht trends.

The Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) has nominated Green Voyager for their 2010 Environmental Award. The UIM promotes environmentally friendly innovation and technology in an effort to address environmental challenges, particularly the decline in biodiversity and energy resources.

Green Voyager is a collaborative design effort between the yard, architects, engineers and consultants who share a vision to reduce the environmental footprint. The yard has entered Green Voyager for consideration by the UIM Environmental Working Group.

The Antigua Charter Yacht Show – over 100 of the World’s Greatest Luxury Charter Yachts in one Place

Every year, the best of the best charter yachts make their way to Antigua, so that Luxury Yacht Brokers can thoroughly see the yacht, meet the crew, and understand what’s new for the upcoming Caribbean Charter Season (the show is closed to the general public).

This year the show will take place December 5-10, and Boatbloggings of course will be there. We will update you with all the hottest yachts and trends during the show. Board the “Yellow Submarine” at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show

Megayacht owners are taking advantage of their aft decks as an outstanding platform for private submarine operations. Including a submersible in their onboard toy collections provides the ability for owners and guests to emulate Cousteau, dive whenever or wherever there are pristine reefs or steep walls, all with glasses of chilled champagne in hand.

In fact, Dutch company U-Boat Worx submersibles were so popular at the Monaco Boat Show that the company conducted more than 30 dives in four days with additional requests received during the show.

The latest C-Quester 3, whimsically named the “Yellow Submarine”, completed its Harbour Acceptance Tests and Sea Acceptance Tests under the watchful eye of surveyors from Rotterdam and Hamburg prior to the Monaco show, and will be available for demonstration dives to qualified prospects at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

The C-Questor 3 is fully air-conditioned, features an eight-hour endurance capacity, and operates to a depth of 330 feet. U-Boat Worx will be reducing the price by about ten percent during the Fort Lauderdale show. The C-Quester 3 submersible will be on display alongside U-Boat Worx appointed USA dealer, Brownie’s Yacht Diver.

Sailing Yachts take Center Stage at the Monaco Yacht Show

It was a gloriously sunny day yesterday in Monaco, providing the magnificent backdrop for the world’s greatest superyachts as only Monaco can do.

We were struck by the number of beautiful sailing yachts on display this year – we counted over 25, not including the Maltese Falcon that was sailing back and forth outside the port. Sailing Yachts have been evolving rapidly on all fronts – technology, materials, comfort, and luxury offerings. Some of our favorites at the show were NI LAYA from Baltic Yachts, BAGHEERA, a 24m Wally, MARIE, a 54m dual masted from Vitters, and SELENE, a 56m 2 masted Perini Navi. Not to be out done, there of course were plenty of amazing Motor Yachts with all of the bells and whistles, from the 60m Expedition Yacht SENSES with her helicopter and several exploration tenders, to 51.4m LAZY Z with her stunning interior and every imaginable water toy including volley ball set up and water slide from the top deck.
