November is a key month in the yachting calendar, as luxury charter yachts are taken out of the water for maintenance and refurbishment after their busy summer schedule in time for the Winter Caribbean season. We have already seen MI SUENO’s recent maintenance work at the ground breaking Rybovich centre and ECLIPSE has followed suit after her recent maintenance work at the Fincantieri shipyard. ECLIPSE, a 162.5m motor yacht is the world’s largest super yacht and took 70 workers and four weeks to complete at the Trieste San Marco shipyard.

Fincantieri are continuing with the construction of a second super yacht at its Muggiano facility, following the release of the 134m SERENE and the 140m VICTORY in 2011. Three concept projects are in the process of being released by Fincantieri, including the 88m VIRAGE88. the 145m FORTISSIMO which features a gas turbine by Ken Freivoch and the 142m ARMONIA, styled by Andrea Vallicelli.

WILD THYME, a luxurious Benetti Classic Charter Yacht and the Benetti Innovation Project!

Benetti have initiated a new design competition known as the Innovation Project. The prestigious yachting brand has partnered with 16 design firms, a mix of newcomers and established artisans, to present 27 different mega yacht designs, with a view to some being put into production. Benetti left styling and interior arrangements up to each creative team to fashion as they wished, as long as the designs were based on the builder’s existing platforms, which ranges from 164 to 295 feet (50 meters to 90 meters). Marco Casali has just released three designs, which take inspiration from previous Benetti designs, bringing them into the 21st Century. Casali, “Our study was inspired by the impending anniversary of 140 years since the founding of the shipyard.” One of our favourites is the Cloud 90, a beautiful motorboat, which features both a helipad and a swimming pool.

The Cloud 90 is 295 feet in length (90 meters) and with a 55-foot beam (16.82-meter). Marco Casali described the Cloud 90 as a mega yacht of the future, but pays respect to traditional styling and aesthetics, which have made Benetti’s immediately recognizable. The “Cloud” part of Cloud 90 comes from the rounded, eyebrow-like glass section in the superstructure. Casali and his team mimicked the shape of clouds as well as that of the famed Yas Viceroy Hotel in Abu Dhabi. Highlights of the layout include an owner’s deck with an alfresco lounge, as well as a balcony overlooking the foredeck sunning area and swimming pool. There are floor-to-ceiling windows along the main deck, three tender garages along the hull. There is a heavy emphasis on outdoor living and relaxing. The Cloud 90 will provide accommodation for up to 16 guests, with 28 crew, making a good crew-to-guest ratio.

Cloud 90 is a very exciting prospect and epitomises the importance of schemes such as Benetti’s Innovation project for the future of yachting designs. Our favourite worldwide Luxury Yacht Charters – Part II

Following on from Part I of our first ever edition of the Boatbookings.com brokers favourite yachts of the month, Part II aims to complete our October favourite luxury yachts. It is unquestionable that a luxury yacht charter on DAMRAK II or an event charter on NINAH would be beatable, however we believe that JACKIE ONE, TIGER LILY OF LONDON and MISTRAL 55 could also offer you one of the most incredible experiences and holidays of your life.

JACKIE ONE is a luxurious Amercraft 26m motor yacht with 4 staterooms, accommodating up to 8 guests. She has undergone a complete makeover in 2007, which included a Jacuzzi, as well a complete interior refit. She has a great crew, including a very experienced captain who has extensive knowledge of the Amalfi Coast, as well as a chef whose cuisine is second to none. She can provide accommodation for up to 10 guests in 4 modern cabins, as well as beautiful decks and living areas. She is a great choice for a day charter to the exclusive Pampelonne Beach and would not look out of place amongst the Super Yachts. Why not try a lunch reservation at Kailargo or La Ramatuelle, fantastic restaurants on offer at the celebrity hotspot, Nioulargo Beach. She is a very popular day charter option for friends or family and will not disappoint.

52nd Genoa International Boat Show

The countdown to the 52nd Genoa International Boat Show has begun. With more than 1,400 boats on show over the coming week, this year’s event promises to be bigger than ever. The Show is organised by Fiera di Genova SpA and UCINA (Italy’s professional association of the yachting industry) and is set on a 200,000 square-metre exhibition area that includes parts of the old town and port of Genoa.Due to Genoa’s prominence in the ship and yacht building industry, and the popularity of nautical tourism along the Italian Riviera, the 1st International Boat Show took place in January 1962. With more than 300,000 visitors that year, it was an instant success and has continued to draw huge crowds ever since. This year’s Boat Show will offer a wide range of sea sport opportunities for younger visitors and features a wonderfully-planned itinerary that is devoted to Italian sea sport and local Genoese boat building traditions. The Show will be open every day next week (Saturday 6th – Sunday 14th October) and will feature a special entertainment programme for the public on its opening evening.

Visitors do not only marvel at the many yachts on show but can also browse through the many stands exhibited by more than 900 companies selling ship components, accessories, motors, electronics and water sports equipment.

One company that is ever-present in Genoa is the Azimut Benetti Group, who have always had a particularly strong relationship with the organisers of the Boat Show. Such is their relationship that this year Azimut Benetti will have the highest number of motor boats on show exceeding 10 metres.

Included among the 26 Azimut Benetti boats on show is the fantastic Azimut 62S. In 2007, the 62S was voted “Boat of the Year” by the British boating pressin for the over -45’ sport cruiser category, while she also won European Boat of the Year at the Dusseldorf Boat Show.
