Boatbookings Onboard Oceanco 168 LAZY Z: The Quintessential Luxury Family Charter Yacht

What makes a truly superlative family charter is the combination of a magnificent luxury yacht and a long term, professional yet playful crew. LAZY Z not only meets but also exceeds these criteria.

Oceanco built LAZY Z in 1997, but you’d never guess her age because this stunning superyacht is graced with a timeless beauty of design and blessed by an owner and crew who keep her meticulously maintained, from the smallest knob on up.

Interior spaces are furnished with an elegant simplicity of design, featuring plush carpeting, supple leather upholstery and rich Indonesian bubinga hardwood against a backdrop of soft silk paneling. The palette of warm wood tones and golden hues is relaxing and inviting. The wide central staircase is a stunning and unusual architectural feature.

LAZY Z has accommodations for twelve guests in 6 spacious staterooms with a special cabin designed to delight children, right down to the teddy bears. With a 29 foot beam the true full width master suite, from porthole to porthole, is wonderfully spacious and filled with natural light. There is also a dedicated gym and the elegant observation lounge is an inspiration.

Even the radio room on LAZY Z is impressive, housing racks of state of the art equipment, including the Kaleidescape entertainment system storing over 3,000 movies, a capacity that exceeds yachts twice the size of LAZY Z.

We are not surprised when we are told that there is nothing on the bridge that is more than 12 months old. The CCTV was upgraded ten months ago; two new radars were upgraded eight months ago. The Servowatch integrated ship control system, which monitors the main engines, generators, bilges, water tight doors, all of those sort of systems onboard, is just eight months old. From comfortable banquette seating guests can peer at the high tech electronic chart system and the forward facing sonar, which gives a 2D display of what the seabed is like ahead.

Out on deck, LAZY Z has fabulous seating under a huge shade awning, and surrounding the Jacuzzi pool, which is only a couple of years old, there’s lots of sunbathing and, of course, you cannot miss the slide. This is a huge hit with all charter guests who, we are told, opt to use it every day. The owner of the boat is 72 years old and he uses the slide, preferring to go down backwards or head first. It’s simply awesome, they’ve had girls as young as three slide down it.

It is quite evident why LAZY Z is a very busy yacht featuring charters in the Caribbean and Mediterranean directed toward young families who, at the end of their charter, eagerly book a slot for the following year. The youthful and energetic crew boasts a guarantee that if you are a charter client on this boat you’ll be back again next year. We have no doubt.

Sailing Yachts take Center Stage at the Monaco Yacht Show

It was a gloriously sunny day yesterday in Monaco,  providing the magnificent backdrop for the world’s greatest superyachts as only Monaco can do.

Wally Yacht BAGHEERA at the Monaco Yacht ShowWe were struck by the number of beautiful sailing yachts on display this year – we counted over 25, not including the Maltese Falcon that was sailing back and forth outside the port. Sailing Yachts have been evolving rapidly on all fronts – technology, materials, comfort, and luxury offerings.  Some of our favorites at the show were NI LAYA from Baltic Yachts, BAGHEERA, a 24m Wally, MARIE, a 54m dual masted from Vitters, and SELENE, a 56m 2 masted Perini Navi.  You can see shots of many of these yachts on our Boatbookings.com Yacht Charter Facebook page.

LAZY Z superyacht, with water slideNot to be out done, there of course were plenty of amazing Motor Yachts with all of the bells and whistles, from the 60m Expedition Yacht SENSES with her helicopter and several exploration tenders, to 51.4m LAZY Z with her stunning interior and every imaginable water toy including volley ball set up and water slide from the top deck.

Boatbloggings will be covering more of these amazing yachts once the dust settles after the Monaco Yacht Show. And please comment here about the yachts you saw that were particularly amazing, and add images from the show on our Facebook page.

PS. it’s raining today (Friday). Even Monaco can’t assure perfect weather all of the time!

Newest Superyacht Deep-Sea Submarine Debuts at Monaco Yacht Show

Imagine the thrill of navigating the depths of the undersea world onboard a private submarine. U-Boat Worx has been outfitting superyachts with two- and three-man submersibles for several years, but their latest model allows up to five passengers to reach an extraordinary maximum depth of 3,300 feet.

The C-Explorer model reaches greater depths for longer periods of time than the C-Quester, currently an option on a select few luxury charter yachts. Deluxe onboard amenities include a fully air-conditioned chamber, iPod stereo system and champagne cooler. Relax, sip on a glass of chilled champagne and marvel as the enchanted world far below the surface of the sea drifts by.

The C-Explorer line was announced by the Dutch company U-Boat Worx this past April, and will make a debut appearance at the Monaco Yacht Show September 22-25. The company has been manufacturing private world-class submersibles for the yachting industry since 2005. Kingship to Reveal New Projects at Monaco Yacht Show

Superyacht builder Kingship is set to reveal details about cutting-edge new designs at the Monaco Yacht Show. The Hong Kong shipyard is working with Donald Starkey and Azure Naval Architects in the design and development of a 156-foot megayacht. The profile reflects a striking yet subtle juxtaposition of classic and futuristic lines. While plumb bow hull design is a recent trend, it actually originated in classic commuter yacht design.

The plumb bow, circular port lights on the forward main deck and sweeping sheer line are reminiscent of the Golden Age of yachting. These elements integrated with a very futuristic dynamism of exterior styling succeed in producing what Kingship terms a œmodern gentleman’s yacht.

The general arrangement features six suites, spacious lounges and plentiful deck spaces for entertaining including a partially shaded sun deck with a bar/dining area and sizeable Jacuzzi on the forward sunning area.

Kingship also raises the bar on efficient long-range explorers, an increasingly popular alternative to the classic white yacht. The HT116’Explorer reaches a maximum speed of 13 knots with a 7,000Nm range. Two additional models in the series, a 148-footer and an 87-footer, are new versions that vary little other than in size. All three incorporate a novel stabilization system at anchor based on two non-retractable fins.
