Porsche Design is teaming up with the high end, Singapore based Royal Falcon Fleet to create the ultimate in billionaire boys' toys; luxury catamarans and megayachts, the first of which is to be a 135 foot luxury motor catamaran, known as the RFF135 (see image) and capable of cruising at upto 35 knots through the oceans of the world. The result of a design collaboration between the two companies, the Swedish marine engineering firm Kockums and the Australian catamaran company Incat Crowther is expected to be a creature that oozes with luxury, opulence and haute couture whilst using the latest in technology and looking like something that has travelled here from the future. Porsche will be designing both the exteriors and interiors whilst the other three companies will be taking on the task of creating the technology and engines to make her operate like a dream and wow those cross her path.

Dining in Traditional Dutch Yachting Style
Ever wondered what it is like to be wined and dined on a beautifully crafted specimen of Dutch Nautical Heritage? Well we can tell you! Yesterday evening we were lucky enough to be invited on board ATALANTA where we experienced first hand the joys of classic sixties style cruising. The teak-on-steel frame motor yacht was in pristine condition; her brass fittings lovingly polished to a warm burnish and her teak decks inviting you to walk around and experience her with your bare feet. Built in 1958 by the ‘de Vries shipyard’ she is every inch the perfect place to entertain and to cruise the French and Italian Rivieras in an elegant and comfortable environment.
We were welcomed on board by the Captain Adam and stewardess Diana, who produced some of the most amazing cuisine we have experienced on the French Riviera, including a delicious chocolate and espresso cake for dessert. This boat is a definate one for your charter wish-list!
Boatbookings releases yacht quizzes on Facebook
In order to add a little boat fun for Facebook users, Boatbookings.com now has two quiz applications on Facebook. “Yacht Sleuth” shows the user images of boats and if the user guesses the right one, they gain points. “Port Finder” shows the user one of the world’s famous ports, and asks you to guess which one it is. Both apps give you hints if they are too difficult.
Try them out!
Coast Guard Security at the G8
Anyone who loves boats had to be amazed and a bit shocked by the scenes at the G8 conference in Germany – as this YouTube clip graphically shows (sorry about the German)
Alinghi vs Emirates Team New Zealand – who will win?
It might just be idle gossip, and it might really be that our friends in Valencia have seen something, but the word on the docks at the America’s Cup is that Alinghi has been significantly faster than Emirates Team New Zealand when they’ve practiced head to head. If it’s true, you heard it here first! If not, well, who trusts gossip anyway?
