Cannes Film Festival, Day 5 – Inside Llewyn Davis – Our Yacht Nominee: Riva Aquarama

Day 5 of the Festival International de Film, and the film of the day is Inside Llewyn Davis. Directed and written by both Ethan Coen and Joel Coen, Inside Llewyn Davis recounts the story of a singer-songwriter who navigating New York’s folk music scene in the 1960s, struggling to make his name. The film stars Justin Timberlake, John Goodman and Carey Mulligan, star of The Great Gatsby which also premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on opening night.

So in keeping with the era, the traditional style of folk music and the decade of the ’60s, our yacht nominee in this Riva Aquarama, available for charter on Lake Garda, Italy.

Cannes Film Festival, Day 4 – Like Father Like Son – Our Yacht Nominee: Phinisi 50!

Day 4 of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival sees the premiere of Hirokazu Koreeda’s ‘Soshite chichi ni naru,’ Like Father Like Son. It is the heart wrenching tale of Ryota Nonomiya, a successful business man who’s driven by money but discovers that his biological son was switched with another child at birth. Ryota has earned everything he has by his hard work and believes nothing can stop him from pursuing his perfect life as a winner. However, when he receives an unexpected call from the hospital explaining that his biological son was switched at birth, he is forced to make a life-changing decision, to choose between ‘nature’ and ‘nurture.’ Seeing Ryota’s devotion to his ‘son’ even after learning his origin, is a truly fascinating tale but the plot darkens when he begins to question his existence as a father after all these years.

The globally acclaimed screen writer and director Hirokazu Koreeda originates from Tokoyo, Japan. He has come a long way from his first feature, Maborosi in 1995, based on a Teru Miyamoto novel and drawn from his own experiences while filming. He has won jury prizes at both Venice and Chicago Film Festival and seeks to obtain the highly coveted Palme d’or, this year in Cannes. This highly anticipated film screens at 11:30 and 22:00 on Saturday 18th of may, 2013.

Cannes Film Festival, Day 2 – The Bling Ring – Our Yacht Nominee: DB9!

Day 2 of the world famous Cannes Film Festival sees the premiere of ‘The Bling Ring,’ a highly anticipated American crime-drama film that is based on true events. The film was directed, written and produced by Sofia Coppola, who previously won an Academy Award for the Best Original Screenplay for ‘Lost in Translation’ and who became the first American woman to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director.

The film is set around a group of celebrity obsessed teenagers who cunningly use the Internet and social media to track celebrities’ whereabouts and then steal all their personal possessions. The group called themselves the ‘Bling Ring Gang’ and stole continuously from celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Megan Fox and Orlando Bloom. The groups’ ringleader was sentenced to 180 days in jail after stealing an estimated 3 million dollars worth of designer goods and jewellery.

The film stars Emma Watson, Taissa Farmiga and Leslie Mann, as well as newcomers Israel Broussard and Katie Chang. It will open the ‘Un Certain Regard‘ section of the 2013 Cannes film Festival. This section was introduced in 1978 by Gilles Jacob. Each year it presents a selection of films with varying visions and style that seek international recognition.

Cannes Film Festival, Day 1 – The Great Gatsby – Our Yacht Nominee: MIMU!

MIMU It’s that time of year again, and the Cannes Film Festival 2013 is upon us! Wednesday 15th May marks the grand Opening Ceremony, and the screening of the Festival’s first film, the long awaited and highly anticipated Great Gatsby. Directed by Baz Luhrmann, who has already wowed us with works such as Moulin Rouge!, Romeo & Juliet and Australia, The Great Gatsby stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire and brings F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel to life.

How to Obtain a Berth in Cannes – Get the Prime Location for the Film Festival
