But why the BVI? Here are just a few things to entice you!
‘Every day’s a party’ at Foxy’s, so seas the day (and night)! Head to the bar at Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke, on December 31st and celebrate ‘Old Years Night’. Start as you mean to go on, where the party gets into full swing to celebrate the New Year. Enjoy a Sly Fox or a Dread Fox, the house specialities made with Foxy’s homemade rum. You can also quench your thirst with a draft beer fresh from Foxy’s own microbrewery! Enjoy Foxy singing in his Calypso style while you tuck into food prepared in a unique, Caribbean style with your feet buried in the warm sand.
Try and Beat These Lobster Dishes!
The island of Anegada precedes its reputation for serving up the tastiest lobster in the Caribbean! Located to the north of Virgin Gorda, the island is slightly further out than the others, but worth the trip! At the end of November, the Anegada Lobster Festival sets out to prove just how good its specialty is, so if you are heading out a bit earlier than Christmas, drop in and experiment with lobster served in multiple, exciting ways.
Get Nauti at Willy T’s!
Enjoy your drinks chilled? Willy T’s is the floating bar that serves a line of shots on a waterski. What better way to make a bar well known? The schooner is where you will find all sorts of shenanigans going on! Moored in the Bight at Norman Island, the William Thornton serves the likes of conch fritters, calamari ceviche and honey stung chicken along with some more traditional favorites such as fish & chips and burgers in its restaurant, and then you can head to the bar area to flip flop until you drop!
The Baths, Virgin Gorda
Sail to the southern point of Virgin Gorda where you will find the infamous Baths. This wonder is made from gigantic granite boulders on the beach's edge, which form sheltered sea pools in coves and caves. You can make your way through to Devil’s Bay by scaling the awe-inspiring boulders with the help of some ladders! Head here early in the day to make the most of your chance to explore this impressive geological wonder with sandy toes and salty hair!
The Soggy Dollar Bar
The Soggy Dollar is the home of the original Painkiller cocktail. This concoction of premium rum, pineapple and orange juice, cream of coconut and freshly grated nutmeg from Grenada makes this bar highly sought after. There are no docks on the beach, so arrive in style on your dinghy or take the plunge and swim in – there’s a reason the bar gained its name! You are more than welcome to arrived drenched in seawater, just grab a drink and dry off playing the Ring Game. The aim? Swing the ring until it catches on the hook. The prize? Rum – what else? There’s a Ring Game app as well if you want to get some practice in before you go!
