Dufour 48 | Bareboat Catamaran

It seems that major brands of monohull production builders already have an associated catamaran line: Beneteau has Lagoon and Bavaria bought Nautitech, so it stands to reason that French builder Dufour has gotten into the game with the Umberto Felci-designed Dufour 48 catamaran. It is an exciting new venture for Dufour into the multi-hull market and we love her!

The design focused on outdoor living with an enormous flybridge to enjoy. An L-shaped settee forms the perimeter of the upper deck to the port side and just aft of the single helm seat to starboard. Amidships is the line control center with two winches and a large sheet bin, and just ahead of the helm is a double sunpad with a safety railing.

Access to the flybridge is from both port and starboard steps. Overhead, a bimini will provide shade for the family and friends and a small hardtop will protect the Skipper from the elements. Visibility is excellent in all directions except to the transoms so docking in reverse will require assistance.

The second outdoor space is the 26-foot wide cockpit with seating for eight to port. A lounge is to starboard and the entire transom serves as a seat.


The final outdoor section is the bow where two double sun pads lie just ahead of the coach roof. Surprisingly, this still leaves room for two small sections for trampoline just aft of the cross beam. The pads are separated by a length of hard deck that houses the windlass.

In summary, there is a 360 view, a super helm station, perfect space balance and a choice of a rig with self-tacking jib.
