Day Charter Yachts in Singapore
Top Tips for Chartering
Yacht Capacity
Yacht capacity is the maximum number of guests allowed for a day charter in Singapore waters. This is set by government safety regulations and is not flexible. There is no difference between adults and children when it comes to counting the number allowed on the yacht, however, the crew is not included in this figure. A Yacht will be able to hold more people if it does not leave the Marina - for an event for example. For cruising capacity, the number allowed onboard will usually be lower.
Charter Budget
Clicking on any of the Day Charter Yachts will take you to a page of yacht information, including detailed costs. There are typically 3 elements of cost:
- The Charter Fee. This is to hire the whole yacht, including crew and fuel for the standard itinerary. For most yachts, this is a flat fee. A few yachts have a per person fee.
- Food & Beverage. Sample menus for each Singapore charter yacht are downloadable from the bottom of each yacht page. This is usually priced per person, but with minimum order quantities. Most yachts add a “food/service” charge to bring your own food. For bringing your own drinks, some yachts charge “corkage”, others do not.
- GST and Service Charge. Some yachts charge these, others do not. GST is currently 7% in Singapore.
What Style of Yacht is Best?
Based on your number of guests and budget, there may be a few yachts that fit your criteria. Then it is personal preference – which Singapore charter yacht do you like the look of most? If your guests are not experienced sailors, you might consider a catamaran. Catamarans have 2 hulls, which means they are very stable in the water, which reduces the chances of seasickness, although Singapore waters are very calm. Large motor yachts are also stable and often have many water toys and a lot of space for more guests.
Timing Your Charter
Each yacht page shows prices for various yacht charter timings ie during the day, evening, full day, weekdays, weekends, etc. Daytime is better for sunshine and swimming. With evening charters, you have the sunset, the skyscrapers lighting up, and the light show on Sentosa. Many charter yachts have fixed charter timings to allow them to do 2 charters per day. If you want a timing that cuts across 2-time slots, you will have to pay for both time slots, or choose a longer duration charter option eg “full day charter”.
