Discover Corfu, Kefalonia and Zakynthos on your luxury Ionian Islands crewed motor yacht charter Itinerary
Day 1: Kefalonia | Day 2: Paxos | Day 3: Corfu | Day 4: Parga | Day 5: Meganisi | Day 6: Ithaca | Day 7: Zakynthos | Day 8: Disembark at Noon
The Ionian Islands are a blend of breathtaking scenery, azure waters and charming little towns best explored by motor yacht during July and August when the Meltemi winds torment the Cyclades Islands and the Ionians remain beautifully calm.
A typical weekly itinerary of the Ionians involves quite a lot of mileage, so a motor yacht is a superb option for fast island hopping to see every inch of this wonderful destination. Unique and heavily influenced by neighbouring Italy, the villages have a distinct architectural character. Moreover, they are greener, with plush vegetation reaching the shore and offer a myriad of small, protected bays and islets.
Contact our Charter Experts for a bespoke proposal and embark on your enchanting adventure into the heart of the Ionian Islands archipelago. Should you wish to embark on a shorter charter, discover our 6-day charter from Corfu for more inspiration.
Map of the Ionian Itinerary
Day 1: Kefalonia
Kefalonia lies almost in the middle of the Ionians and is not only the largest island but one of the most beautiful making it the perfect place to embark your yacht at noon. Lefkas happens to be a windsurfers paradise; for those looking for some high-octane activity, head to Vassiliki and Agios Ioannis to catch some surf. Alternatively, enjoy swimming in the translucent waters of Assos bay before heading to Fiscardo for your overnight berth.
Fiscardo is a little fishing village in the North part of Kefalonia recognised for its Venetian architecture, whitewashed shops, balconies drenched in bright flowers, and coffee places to enjoy a Greek frappe. There are many secret coves surrounding the island which offer great snorkelling spots. For the foodies among you, tender ashore for a flavorful dinner in Tassia’s Restaurant, renowned throughout the Ionians for fresh fish.
Day 2: Paxos & Antipaxos
This morning, rise early to whiffs of a beautifully prepared breakfast on the aft deck and begin the cruise towards possibly the Ionian's most beautiful islands; Paxoi and Antipaxoi (commonly known as Paxos and Antipaxos). Situated between Lefkas and Corfu, this pocket of paradise south of Corfu is known for pristine beaches, limestone cliffs and enchanting Blue Caves.
Discover shipwrecks on the south coast of Paxos or soak up the traditional Greek atmosphere in the harbour towns of Lakka or Loggos on the east side of the island. For your overnight stop, head for the port of Gaios in Paxoi: a unique little fjord-like anchorage.
Day 3: Corfu
A melting pot of cultures; Corfu is the undisputable queen of the Ionian islands. On approach to Corfu, continue north to the fishing village of Kassiópi on the affluent northeast coast of the island. Brimming with origional charm, this fishing village is home to the Byzantine castle up on the hillside which defended the islands before the Venetian era. Also known for having the best beaches on the island, we suggest stopping for a refreshing dip and exploring away from the yacht on your selection of water toys.
Come mid-afternoon, venture into the Old Town of Corfu; a UNESCO World Heritage Site where your Captain will secure a highly sought-after berth for the night. Drenched in ancient history, the Old Town is a magnificent maze of monuments and her castle is certainly worth a visit. Explore Liston Square, named because only noble families (listed in the Libro d’ Oro) could own properties there.
Day 4: Parga
Welcome to the Epirus Riviera: Parga and Sivota. Commonly known as "Greek Polynesia", Sivota's exotic typography of green islands and turquoise waters charms charterers on arrival into Parga. Parge is an enchanting town of multi-coloured houses perched on a hill overlooking the sea on mainland Greece, vaguely reminiscent of Southern Italy. Situated between towering mountains and the sea, her castle withstood the constant pressure of conquerors for centuries making it a great attraction for charterers.
Enjoy a drink at a waterside bar whilst the sun dips below the horizon, before wandering inland for an air full of olive oil and citrus tree scents, before sitting down at a traditional taverna to devour fresh fish and Greek delicacies.
Day 5: Meganisi
Today, enjoy a morning swim first thing, before breakfast on the aft deck whilst underway to Meganissi. Although its name may suggest it to be a grand island, it is infact a very small Ionian island with three settlements and multiple idyllic bays to swing at anchor. Spend a lazy day swimming in the emerald waters and a private beach barbecue set-up organised by your crew; the perfect way to relax after Corfu and Parga.
This is the perfect place to dig out the water toys and have a float on the crystal clear waters. Should you wish to explore below the waterline, Meganissi is the perfect place to use the snorkelling equipment. Visit Limonari Beach for ultimate seclusion and tranquillity while you enjoy this beautiful little island. Enjoy an exquisitely prepared dinner under the stars as you plan your day tomorrow alongside your captain.
Day 6: Ithaca
Famous for being the island of Odysseus, Ithaki (Ithaca) is another hidden gem in the heart of the Ionians and has long been attracting charterers with her dandelion coasts, emerald waters and lively little towns. The harbour of Vathi is hidden from sight and will only appear when you venture deep into the bay and round the corner to be welcomed by a sea of red-roofed houses peppering the surrounding hills which survived the earthquake of 1953, preserving most of its history and charm.
Hike to the island's highest peak to the monastery of Moni Katharon where you will have a spectacular view of the entire island and across the water to Kefalonia. Come evening, we recommend settling down at the restaurant of Yefuri for a unique dining experience of international dishes among the pine trees.
Day 7: Zakynthos
Save the most beautiful place for last. Wake early and cruise into the fascinating Navagio Bay, to enjoy it before the flocks of tourist boats arrive. After feasting your eyes on this beauty, head for the town of Zakynthos.
Day 8: Disembark at Noon
Having spent the morning exploring Zakynthos's town and boutiques, say farewell to your crew, disembark at noon and head to the airport for your flight home.
