Cannes evokes immediate images of high French Riviera style: the stars during the Cannes Film Festival, famous hotels including the Carlton, Majestic and Martinez, the palm lined Croisette bordering the Mediterranean, and the gorgeous yachts that are always to be found there.

Cannes is an old port town on a beautiful crescent Mediterranean bay backed by mountains. At either end of the long crescent are ports, the Old Port to the west and the newer Port Canto, to the east. They are connected by the delightful Croisette, with beach on one side and designer shops and classy hotels on the other.

Chartering a Yacht In Cannes

Leisure and Holiday Yacht Charter. Cannes is an ideal port for a leisure charter, be it for a day charter, a long weekend or an extended holiday. There are superb destinations and itineraries for just about any need. Typical day charter destinations are the unspoiled Lerin Islands just off the coast, St Tropez to the southwest (always best reached by boat, not car!) or Cap Ferrat and Monaco to the northeast. Click here for our Cannes to St Tropez Charter Itinerary or our Cannes to Monaco Itinerary. Our most popular destination is Club 55 in St Tropez which we've also captured on this charter video of Cannes to Club 55 in St Tropez.

All types and sizes of charter yachts are available - motor, sail, catamaran. For a quick trip up or down the coast, we normally recommend a motor yacht, as winds can be variable or non-existant in the high season. For an extended cruise it's a matter of your preference - there are gorgeous crewed sailing yachts and catamarans with all the amenities, as well as perhaps the worlds best selection of motor yachts.

Event and Corporate Entertainment Charter. Cannes is famous for its events, most notably the Cannes International Film Festival, but there are many other events such as MIPIM, MIDEM, MIPCOM, and MAPIC. Companies vie for valuable berths next to the Palais on the Jetty Albert Edouard at most of these shows, but good planning can secure a berth in most shows. It is also common to charter yachts in the Old Port simply to sleep on, as they provide accommodation directly next to the Palais.

Team Building and Celebrations. Event charter doesn't need to coincide with a congress or trade show - many companies and organisations create their own events, from team building to rewards to celebrations. Although most yachts carry only 12 passengers due to maritime licensing regulations, a select number of yachts carry more and specialise in event charters.

Classic Yacht Charter for Events and Team Building. One favorite team and group activity is to charter two or more beautiful classic yachts and race them - with every member of the team having responsiblities such as hoisting sails or navigating. We can't think of a better day out for teambuilding!

Cannes Points of Interest

The Old Port and the Old Town of Cannes. Once primarily a fishing port, now the Old Port of Cannes is home to many of the world's newest and most beautiful superyachts. The Old Port is directly adjacent to the Palais des Festivals, where all of the events occur, making for a unique setting where luxury yachts become part of all events in the port, hosting extravagant parties, receptions and meetings. It's also easy to find one of the frequent ferries to the Lerin Islands from the old port.

The Old Town has for the most part retained its old character and has many restaurants and cafes that line the port and extend up the hill. The hill of Le Souquet is topped by the medieval 12th-century Tour de Mt. Chevalier and the 12th-16th-century church Notre-Dame-de-l'Espérence.

The Croisette. One of the most photographed boardwalks in the world, the Croisette extends in a graceful, palm tree studded arc for two miles. A great selection of brand name boutiques such as Cartier and Dolce Gabanna are on the north side, alongside renowned hotels such as the Martinez and Carlton. A sandy beach, with plenty of upscale beach restaurants lines the south (water facing) side. A gentle stroll along the Croisette affords great views and people watching as can only be found in the South of France.

The Palais des Festivals Conference Center. The center of events in Cannes is the Palais des Festivals - you've no doubt seen movie stars on the red carpeted stairs leading up to it. Its located at the west end of the Croisette, and hosts all of the major congresses and festivals. It also borders the Old Port, which is why chartering an event yacht works so well in Cannes - you are right in the middle of the action.

Rue d'Antibes. The main shopping street of Cannes, stretching nearly the entire length of the Croisette and just 1-2 blocks inland, is called Rue d'Antibes. You'll find hudreds of boutiques there - and will have no problem spending a shopping day if that's on your agenda!

Port Canto. The newer port of Port Canto, at the far East end of the Croisette, berths hundreds of charter yachts. Events can be held on yachts here if the Old Port is full - buses or ferries can be arranged from the Palais. It is also near several of the most "in" night clubs such as "Le Baoli".
