The Best Beach Bars in the Grenadines
Be sure to visit these famous Grenadines Beach Bars on your charter to the Grenadines/Windward Islands. You're sure to meet like-minded sailors, enjoy a gorgeous sunset and maybe even show off on the dance floor!
The Grenadines are an established "must sail" archipelago in the Windward Islands of the Caribbean. And where there are sailors, there are beach bars! Whether you seek vibrant parties, laid-back vibes, or the taste of authentic local cuisine, the Grenadines' beach bars are sure to leave a lasting impression. So, grab your sunhat, kick back, and let the magic of the Grenadines wash over you as you enjoy the best beach bars this tropical paradise has to offer.
These are our first-hand recommendations of the best bars in the Grenadines, but we're always happy to explore others if you think we've missed any! Suffice it to say that in all of these, you can find the true "spirit" of the islands (which in most cases is rum).
Basil's Bar (pictured above) - Mustique Island:
Located on the exclusive Mustique Island, Basil's Bar is an iconic establishment that has attracted exclusive visitors from all over the world, including celebrities, rock stars (Mick Jagger has a house on the island and has been known to play there), and royalty. Founded in 1976 by Basil Charles, one of the first full-time inhabitants of the island, this classic beach bar exudes a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere, where guests can sip on delicious cocktails while enjoying live music and breathtaking sunset views. Don't miss the famous "Jump-Up" parties held here, where the rhythmic beats of the Caribbean take center stage.
The Last Bar Before The Jungle - Mayreau Island:
The "last bar on the right" in Salt Whistle Bay on the north end of Mayreau Island, The Last Bar Before The Jungle offers a unique and rustic Caribbean bar that is the perfect stopover for anyone sailing through Mayreau. Known for its fresh seafood and friendly and welcoming vibe, this beach bar is a favorite for sailors stopping in for the evening. Savor refreshing drinks, indulge in freshly caught seafood including conch and grilled lobster, and unwind while making new friends and taking in the panoramic views of the turquoise waters and lush surroundings. Or maybe stick around for a bit of dancing in the evening!
Bar One Bequia - Bequia Island:
Literally floating among the yachts moored in Bequia’s Port Elizabeth Harbour, you can find one of the world's most unique bars. To get there, you literally need to call the bar, which will arrange a quick tender ride to this unforgettable bar. Ivor, the owner, will most likely be pouring the drinks in this sustainable, solar-powered floating bar. If you time it right, you may be serenaded by a steel drum band. Get there well before sunset to reserve your spot for the daily gorgeous sunset.
Happy Island - Union Island:
Venture to Union Island, and you'll discover a tiny paradise known as Happy Island. This island bar was constructed on a reef from conch shells by Janti, a local resident who noticed that the conch shells were littering the beaches. His ingenious work has created a bar unlike any other. Happy Island is located in Clifton Bay on the west side of Union Island near all of the moorings. While the bar itself is small, the experience it offers is unforgettable. Sip on rum punches and enjoy the lively atmosphere as yachts and sailboats cruise by, making this a truly unique spot in the Grenadines. We recommend you call ahead to reserve your spot!
Driftwood Restaurant & Bar - St Vincent Island:
For a taste of local cuisine and an authentic Grenadines experience, head to Driftwood Restaurant & Bar on the southern tip of St Vincent Island. This charming beachfront establishment offers a relaxed ambiance, with its wooden decor and stunning views of the sea. Sample mouthwatering seafood dishes, known as some of the best cuisine in the Grenadines, such as grilled lobster and fresh fish.
Jack's Beach Bar - Bequia Island:
Located on the idyllic Princess Margaret Beach on Bequia Island, Jack's Beach Bar is a hidden gem known for its tranquility and breathtaking views. With its powdery white sands, crystal-clear waters, and swaying palm trees, this bar provides the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy a tropical drink. Savor their signature cocktails, including the famous Rum Punch, and indulge in breakfast, lunch or dinner while basking in the serenity of this picturesque beach. If you are lucky you may stumble onto a live concert, which are organized from time to time.
